Most calls we get start the same way: the door hesitates before it opens, or it opens fine but comes down crooked, catching on one side of the track. Sometimes it's a grinding noise on the way up that wasn't there last month. Sometimes the opener runs but the door doesn't move at all.
In Pasadena, a lot of this traces back to age rather than damage. Housing across the service area was built mostly between 1943 and 2012, with a median build year of 1959, and most of the named neighborhoods we work in - Altadena, San Marino, South Pasadena, East Pasadena, Hastings Ranch, Lamanda Park - carry that same pre-1960 stock. A door and track system installed on a house from that era has usually been touched by more than one owner and more than one repair, and the hardware underneath doesn't always match what's original.
We don't guess at what's wrong from a description over the phone. A door that binds could be a bent track, a worn roller, or a spring that's lost tension slowly enough that you didn't notice until it failed outright. Each of those has a different fix and a different cost, and pretending otherwise before we've looked at it would be a disservice.
