Because San Marino is a small market - roughly 3,807 households - we see the same handful of door sizes and hardware setups come up over and over on original 1943 construction: narrower single-car openings, low headroom that limits which torsion spring systems fit, and jamb widths that don't match the 16-foot double openings common in newer tract housing elsewhere in the area. We carry torsion hardware and low-headroom track kits sized for that older stock rather than special-ordering it each time.
What we don't stock is anything custom-milled. If your original door has hand-fit trim or a nonstandard panel width that needs a carpenter's touch before a new door goes in, that's outside what we carry on the truck - we'll tell you that up front rather than force a fit that won't sit right.
For steel and composite doors on more standard openings, insulation and panel styles are largely a matter of preference rather than climate necessity here, given the mild temperate conditions across the area. For homes on original 1943 framing, the bigger question is almost always fit, not finish.
